Comprehensive Orientation Programme Held for First-Year Students

As part of the 2026–2027 Academic Year, a comprehensive orientation meeting was held for first-year students on 16.9.2026 to help them adapt to university life and become familiar with the academic, administrative, digital, and social opportunities available at the university. The orientation programme was conducted by Assistant Professor Mehmet Ali Mersin, who provided students with detailed information about the university, vocational school, department procedures, and academic life.

During the programme, students were introduced to essential digital systems such as ÖBS, UBYS,NOTA, and ASUZEM. Information was provided on course registration, class schedules, examinations, grade tracking, the academic calendar, university announcements, and other digital services that students will use throughout their education.

Students were also informed about the activities and services provided by the Health, Culture and Sports Department (SKS), including student clubs, social and cultural events, sports activities, and opportunities for students to participate actively in university life. In addition, the orientation covered the academic advising system, attendance requirements, examination and assessment procedures, academic ethics, university regulations, library resources, internship opportunities, career preparation, Erasmus+ programmes, and international mobility opportunities.

Another important topic addressed during the orientation was online betting and gambling. Students were informed about the potential financial, social, and psychological risks associated with online betting and gambling, as well as the risks of uncontrolled spending and addiction. The importance of making responsible and informed decisions in digital environments was emphasized.

Through the orientation programme, students were encouraged to develop a comprehensive understanding of university life—not only in terms of courses and examinations, but also in terms of academic development, social participation, digital awareness, personal development, and future career opportunities. The programme aimed to help first-year students begin their university journey with greater awareness, confidence, and responsibility.
